Hey, it's Alex.
Many of the people who write to me were the easy child.
The one who didn't make trouble.
The one who noticed when a parent was tired or upset, and became quieter, more helpful, more "fine".
That was smart.
A child can't leave a home that feels tense. So the child adapts.
Being easy was a way to stay safe, and to stay close.
But that habit doesn't know you grew up.
So today you might still:
• say yes when you mean no
• feel guilty when you rest
• read the mood in a room before you know what you feel yourself
None of this means something is wrong with you.
It means a younger part of you is still doing its old job.
In my work, we don't fight that part. We get to know it. What was it protecting? What does it need now?
When that part feels seen, it can finally relax a little.
Were you the easy child too?
