Hey,
It's Alex.
If you are a human...
You are addicted to something.
It could be your job, sugar, or some fancy online game.
Some addictions can be good, like sports or reading a book.
And some?
Can destroy your life.
But you already know that. And you know which dangerous addictions are out there.
The big question...
How do you protect yourself from REAL dangerous addictions?
No one wants to be addicted to anything.
Especially to dangerous things like alcohol or other drugs.
And still...
People find themselves in rehab or, even worse, on the street.
It's impossible to be 100% immune to addiction, and it also depends on our genetics.
Some people have a stronger tendency toward specific addictions because of their genes.
For one person, it's just a glass of wine.
And for another?
It will grow to a bottle of wine per day.
But there is one important thing that you should understand about addictions in general.
Drinking alcohol
Using drugs
Gaming
Or… Working non-stop
All these behaviors do the same thing.
They numb your pain.
People don't drink because they have a happy life.
Mostly, they drink because they want to take a pause from their reality.
The bigger the inner pain?
The more escapism you need in order to keep going.
For one person, it's a glass of wine; for another, it will be playing games.
The result is the same.
The pain is numbed, and you are in “escape mode.”
But the pain didn't go anywhere.
The pain is still there… And the next time?
You would need a bigger dose.
This is the thing with addictions. With time, you need more of it in order to feel the same.
And again... The inner pain isn't going anywhere.
Most of the time, the opposite happens… It's growing. Because life slowly becomes worse and worse.
So, what should you do to avoid getting even close to this nightmare?
DON'T run away from your pain. Don't try to numb it.
Do whatever you need to do in order for it to fade away.
Feel it.
Accept it.
Cry it out.
Punch a pillow and scream.
You see, it's not working?
Be brave enough to ask for help.
Do you know what's common among all the brave people who went to rehab to get rid of their addictions?
They all have an enormous amount of numbed inner pain.
And when they get clean chemically from their drug?
The real healing starts.
Because then they finally begin to feel the reason why they became addicted ... And only after feeling it and healing. They have a chance to become better.
Not getting to this place is simple and hard at the same time.
Don't numb your pain in any way.
Feel it.
Heal it.
Understand it.
And work on yourself to make your life better.
